Evj Applet Launch Page
The following box is just a placeholder; Evj creates its own window
when it starts up.
If another window does not open, see the instructions below.
Experimenting with Evolution: A Guide to Evj
What to do if you do not see the popup window
-
Note that the popup window might be underneath this browser window,
so check by minimizing or moving this window.
-
To run the Evj applet, you need Java version 1.3.0 or later
installed on your system. To run the applet in your Web browser
you need to enable Java for your browser - it may not be enabled.
Check to see if Java is enabled
and enable it if isn't. Here's how:
- Enable Java in your browser: (Note: this information may be
way out of date)
- In Mozilla's Firefox, go to "Tools" menu and select "Options".
Then in the "Web Features" selection, make sure the "Enable Java" box
is checked. Then press "OK" to save it.
- In Netscape, go to "Edit" menu and select "Preferences".
Then select "Advanced", make sure the "Enable Java" box
is checked. Then press "OK" to save it.
- In Windows Internet Explorer 6.0, go to the browser "Tools" menu
and select "Internet Options".
Then select the "Security" tab.
Then select the "Custom level".
Scroll down until
the entry for "Scripting of Java applets" and select "Enable".
Then select OK for the window to accept it.
Then select "Advanced", make sure the "Enable Java" box
is checked.
Then press "OK" to save it in this window and the parent window.
-
Set your screen resolution to at least 800x600.
- Reload this page.
- If you lose the popup window you can restart it by
reloading this page.
- If you cannot run because of a Security warning, add
https://schneider.ncifcrf.gov/
as an exception.
On Mac OSX 10:
- Under the Apple icon/ System Preferences
you should find Java at the bottom. If it is not there, install Java:
https://java.com/en/download/
- Open the Java Control Panel
- Click on Security
- Click on Edit Site List
- add
https://schneider.ncifcrf.gov
- Click OK for Edit Site List
- Click OK for Java Control Panel
You will probably have to restart your browser.
-
If you cannot get Evj to run, see
http://www.lecb.ncifcrf.gov/~toms/papers/ev/evj/
for instructions on how to download the program.
